Lever Action / Single Action

firearms for those cowgirls & cowboys

The LEVER/SINGLE ACTION GROUP consists of individuals who enjoy shooting cowpoke firearms in all calibers (except shotgun for indoor ranges).

Discussions and sharing of information regarding six guns, lever action rifles, ammo, issues, maintenance, and reloading.

A lever action is a type of action for repeating firearms that uses a manually operated cocking handle located around the trigger guard area (often incorporating it) that pivots forward to move the bolt via internal linkages, which will feed and extract cartridges into and out of the chamber.

Let’s face it, shooting a lever gun and loading the six gun is a bit more work than a semi-automatic firearm. They are generally harder to load, working a lever takes a bit of practice to get good at, they are heavy, and for the most part, lever guns are harder to accessorize. Loading that six gun with the empty chamber (load only 5 rounds) takes some skill and practice.

Even though it is a little more work – it is the fun of shooting the style of cowpoke firearms that won the West for our great experiment – THE USA!
